Are you a fan of incredible pop music?

Ever since high school, I've been a huge fan of Guster. I've seen them live a handful of times; I skipped school once to go to a concert. The music is genuinely feel-good without being saccharine or repetitive. All of their albums are great, but Lost and Gone Forever is perfect from beginning to end. Go, uh, buy Guster albums.

i honestly lost most interest after "keep it together", but lost and gone forever... man. maybe it was the era. it's such a gay and shy and in high school kind of album.

yeah, i downloaded satellite and it's choice, but they've gone more indie-pop than loser-folk.

Poison in everything you said
Don't you, don't you
Wonder what difference does it make - either way
Were you ever kind, were you always cruel?
Who's ever seen that other side of you?
Happens every time, so it must be true
Where did you learn it's either him or you?

If that's all you will be
You'll be a waste of time
You've dreamed a thousand dreams
None seem to stick in your mind
Two points for honesty

And I could type the rest of the song from memory... who would think that a silly pop song could change your outlook on life?

Amazing how well it's all held up over time. Actually, I can appreciate them even more fully now that I'm an adult.

I saw one of their albums in Borders once. I was attracted to it because it had a fuzzy bear on it, which was cool. Didn't buy or listen to it though :\

My feel good music is generally some good old Parliament. Never fails.

parliament's sweet, too. the bear album (parachute) is a little lo-fi for me... not really their best.

Is there anything you can compare Guster to? For some reason I get a jam band vibe from them.

not jammy in the least... i'd say like sufjan stevens but less 'precious', or like of montreal. try sonicx.com, they'd probably have a few free downloads. "jesus on the radio", "two points for honesty", and "the great escape" are probably my favorite songs on their respective albums.
